Moving to Portland
Portland is a city that is chock-full of life and adventure! You are never more than a few minutes from a local brewpub, coffee shop or restaurant serving mouth-watering Northwest delights.
This is a city that boasts 9,400 acres of parks as well as several farmers' markets, selling the freshest fruit, vegetables and preserves imaginable.
Portland is full of artists and designers, and there is always some unique treasure to marvel over in the galleries and boutiques that have popped up throughout the city.
An excellent public transportation system is one of Portland's hallmarks, but it is also a walker's city. Stroll through the Pearl District to Powell's Bookstore (the largest in the country) and then carry on into downtown and take in a movie or dinner. Need a brief respite from the city's hustle and bustle? The Japanese Gardens are just a ten-minute drive from downtown.
Geographically, Portland is perfectly located, with Seattle just three hours' train ride (or drive) to the north. Be on the ski slopes or at the beach in less than an hour. Oregon is fast becoming the pinot noir wine capital of the U.S. and Portland is within an hour's drive of many of the state's top wineries.
